Charlie Puth kicked off the Super Bowl LX yesterday (February 8) with a choral rendition of the US National Anthem – check it out below.

The singer-songwriter performed the song on a Rhodes keyboard with a choir and orchestra backing him ahead of the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks’ showdown at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara.

As the song ended and the Air Force flew planes over head, as is tradition, Puth looked up and took in the moment.

His performance came ahead of Bad Bunny‘s halftime show, which saw the Puerto Rican superstar perform with dozens of dancers, while moving through a complex sequence of staged setpieces, from swirling salsa ballrooms to perilous telephone pylons. Pedro Pascal, Cardi B, Jessica Alba and Karol G were all spotted among the dancers, while Bad Bunny appeared to deliver one of the three Grammys he won last week to a young boy.

Lady Gaga made a surprise appearance to deliver a Latin version of her Bruno Mars collaboration ‘Die With A Smile’, and she was joined by Bad Bunny’s backing band Los Pleneros de la Cresta. Ricky Martin, meanwhile, was on hand to introduce ‘El apagón’ with an excerpt of ‘LO QUE LE PASÓ A HAWAii’.

Speaking ahead of his own performance Puth, previously told Rolling Stone: “I’ve actually always wanted to do this. I just want to show people that I can do it.”

“I feel like people don’t really think of me as a standalone vocalist at times… It’ll be pressure the week leading up to it and the hour leading up to it,” he added. “But once I’m there, it’s going to feel so comfortable and it’s going to sound so good.”

In the end the Seattle Seahawks beat the New England Patriots 29-13.

Elsewhere, Donald Trump hit out at Bad Bunny’s performance, branding it a “slap in the face” for America.

Rosalía, Doechii, Ricky Martin, and Jennifer Lopez and more musicians though roundly hailed Bad Bunny’s show.
