American progressive metal band Between The Buried And Me will make their long-awaited return to Australia in July, today announcing a short run of East Coast dates.

The tour marks the group’s first shows in Australia since February 2020 and will see Between The Buried And Me showcasing material from their critically acclaimed album, The Blue Nowhere, released last year. Additionally, the band will pull tracks from their expansive eleven-album career.

The Blue Nowhere Tour commences at Brisbane’s The Triffid on Wednesday, 15 July. It continues at Melbourne’s The Croxton on Friday, 17 July, and concludes at Sydney’s Crowbar on Saturday, 18 July.

My Live Nation Members can access pre-sale tickets on Thursday, 12 February, at 9 am local time – register here for access – ahead of the general sale on Friday, 13 February, at 9 am local time. Tickets can be purchased through the Live Nation Australia website.

The Blue Nowhere is recognised as Between The Buried And Me’s most immersive and eclectic record to date. It finds the group exploring uncharted musical waters while still channelling their distinctive individuality.

Album opener Things We Tell Ourselves in the Dark is perhaps the strangest song in the band’s discography, featuring textures inspired by INXS, Yes and Duran Duran. Elsewhere, the album features Between The Buried And Me’s signature chaos with layered, intense, and unrelentingly dynamic arrangements.

“It’s more of a feeling—those moments when you feel alone in the world and use that solitude to reflect on the human experience,” vocalist and keyboardist Tommy Giles Rogers said of the album. “It exists in a space where no one can find you, hidden from all forms of reality—that’s The Blue Nowhere.

Rogers added, “It feels like a natural evolution for the band. We’re not repeating ourselves. We’re lucky to have a fanbase that’s along for the ride.”

In 2020, Between The Buried And Me embarked on an “Evening With” tour of Australia. Across two sets, the band showcased a four-part arc that produced cohesive evenings of music spanning 2002 to 2019.
