The metal band will head to Sin City this autumn for a live stint at the high-tech venue, dubbed ‘Life Burns Faster’. They announced an initial eight dates last week, taking place on October 1, 3, 15, 17, 22, 24, 29, 31.
Now, James Hetfield and co. have confirmed a further run of gigs at the Sphere, though the exact dates are yet to be revealed.
“Due to unbelievable demand (wow, guys!) SIX SHOWS are being added to our ‘Life Burns Faster’ residency at Sphere in Las Vegas,” Metallica wrote on social media last night (Monday March 2).
They continued: “Keep watching for dates and additional info.”
Both two-night and single-night tickets for the residency go on general sale at 10am PT this Friday (March 6). A fan club pre-sale for the new dates will take place at the same time tomorrow (Wednesday March 4).

Metallica are set to continue the ‘No Repeat Weekend’ format that began with their ‘M72 World Tour’, with no songs repeated on each Thursday and Saturday throughout the residency.
In a statement about the residency, co-founder and drummer Lars Ulrich said: “About 12 seconds into the opening night of Sphere with U2 back in ‘23, I thought ‘We have to do this, it’s completely uncharted territory!’
“This residency gives us another chance to reinvent how we interact with our fans in a live setting. We are beyond excited to share this with the world in six months time, and way fuckin’ psyched to go next-level!”
The group’s upcoming Sphere takeover will boast “live staples and surprises spanning the Metallica catalogue enhanced by the venue’s immersive technologies that will allow fans to experience the sound and fury of the band’s live performance in new experiential dimensions”.

Ticketholders will hear Metallica perform with Sphere Immersive Sound, and enjoy “multi-sensory 4D technology” at the gigs. The shows are due to “present a wholly unique and entirely new Metallica experience for all who attend”.
Sphere’s impressive technology includes the world’s highest resolution LED display that wraps up, over and around the audience.
The band are following U2, Phish, Dead & Company, the Eagles and the Backstreet Boys in hosting a residency at the Sphere.
Last spring, Kirk Hammett spoke about the possibility of playing the arena, saying it was a “great example of how venues are changing”. He continued: “That’s using modern technology to the fullest, to really up the levels of production and entertainment, connected to AI and making it a crazy experience.”
Ulrich later revealed that the group were considering the Sphere, explaining that he would “fucking love to do it”. Robert Trujillo, meanwhile, said the “possibilities are endless” at the venue. “No heavy rock band has done this,” he added.
Before heading to Las Vegas, Metallica will embark on a UK and European tour later this year. This includes two nights at the London Stadium in July, following dates in Dublin, Glasgow and Cardiff. Find any remaining tickets here (UK and Ireland).
Hammett revealed last year that he had 767 new riffs for Metallica’s “next album”. Their 11th and latest full-length effort, ’72 Seasons’, arrived in 2023.
In other news, it has been reported that Tool are also in talks for a Sphere residency, which would coincide with a new album.
