Apple Music teams up with a German confectionery brand to offer chocolate bars with QR codes linking to an album and a free Apple Music trial.

Apple has teamed up with German confectionery brand Ritter Sport for a sweet treat of an Apple Music promotion: albums on Ritter Sport’s 100g square chocolate bars with a QR code on the back of each bar with a link to the album on Apple Music. Each code also provides a free trial to the music streaming service.

The collaboration includes five albums, each available in Dolby Atmos, selected for their impact on German music history in five different genres. These include RAOP by Cro, Happy for the Future II by Marteria, Crazy World by the Scorpions, Mother Tongue by Sarah Connor, and Farbenspiel by Helene Fischer.

The limited-edition candy bars will be available in grocery stores nationwide in Germany starting on Monday, March 2, for €1.99 each.

It’s a unique promotion, but it nevertheless makes sense for Apple, which has been making a broader push to get subscribers in the door with free trials. It comes on the heels of Apple Music’s generous three-month trial offer leading up to the Apple Music-sponsored Super Bowl halftime show, which featured headliner Bad Bunny.

Apple CEO Tim Cook teased last week that a “big week” was ahead with announcements starting on Monday. According to MacRumors, Apple is planning a three-day span of product announcements starting on Monday, March 2, through Wednesday, March 4. Up to give new products are expected to be revealed, including a budget-priced MacBook, an iPhone 17e, and possibly a couple of different iPad models.

However, no news has yet arrived on the long-awaited updates to Apple TV and the HomePod Mini front, and the rumor mill isn’t expecting either product to be part of the festivities this week.

Select journalists and content creators were also invited to an “Apple Experience” in New York, London, and Shanghai, taking place on March 4 at 9 AM ET. Attendees will likely get some hands-on experience with the new products Apple will unveil this week.
