This year actually marks the band’s 20th anniversary, having formed in 2006 before making their name as the first unsigned act to play Glastonbury’s Pyramid Stage in 2009, finally releasing their acclaimed debut album Beachcomber’s Windowsill (through 4AD Records) the following year in 2010. They called a halt to their activities in 2017 for a six year hiatus to pursue other ventures before officially reforming again in 2023 and have since enjoyed arguably an even more successful phase of their career.

The much loved trio will return once again in late October 2026 for fourteen dates at venues around the UK. The Beyonder Tour will be split into two equal halves, as the first seven dates will be during late October to early November and the second half of their itinerary’s remaining seven dates will pick up in the new year in February 2027. See details further below.

Stornoway have just recently played their biggest ever mainland headlining show yet – a prestigious date at London’s Royal Albert Hall – which the band themselves have already cited their most magical, unforgettable and ‘beyond anything they’ve ever experienced’, the band state on their social media page that they are now ‘stoked to announce a UK tour to celebrate the release of Beyonder, our most ambitious album ever! We are going to have such a blast and we hope to see you somewhere down the road!’

In addition to this, Stornoway will also be the first (Friday) night headliners at the forthcoming Found Festival taking place on the 28th-30th August Bank Holiday weekend at the Claydon Estate in Buckingham.

The first song released from the upcoming album, Marco Polo, has already been shared at the start of the month. On the band’s social media page lead vocalist Brian Briggs explains that ‘this song recalls the longing for adventure I had growing up in a small town, and the thrill of stepping into the unknown for the first time. The melody took shape during a walk along Swansea Marina, and became a doorway into Beyonder. This record is about connection to each other, and to the natural world. It feels like the beginning of an exciting new journey for the band.’

Fans can of course embark on that exciting journey right now by pre-ordering their  new album on the link below, which also gives them access for the tickets pre-sale for the upcoming tour dates.

A Plea From Louder Than War

Louder Than War is run by a small but dedicated independent team, and we rely on the small amount of money we generate to keep the site running smoothly. Any money we do get is not lining the pockets of oligarchs or mad-cap billionaires dictating what our journalists are allowed to think and write, or hungry shareholders. We know times are tough, and we want to continue bringing you news on the most interesting releases, the latest gigs and anything else that tickles our fancy. We are not driven by profit, just pure enthusiasm for a scene that each and every one of us is passionate about.

To us, music and culture are eveything, without them, our very souls shrivel and die. We do not charge artists for the exposure we give them and to many, what we do is absolutely vital. Subscribing to one of our paid tiers takes just a minute, and each sign-up makes a huge impact, helping to keep the flame of independent music burning! Please click the button below to help.
