Singer Oliver Tree has died after a helicopter crash in Brazil that resulted in the deaths of six people. He was just 32 years old.
Oliver Tree, who first gained fame in 2010 at the age of 17 working with artists like Skrillex and Zeds Dead, has died after two helicopters collided in the air above Southwest Rio de Janeiro on Sunday morning. Tree was one of six people killed in the tragedy. He was 32 years old.
According to the Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro, per CNN Brazil, Tree and four others—Lucas Vignale, Gaspar Prim, Lucas Brito Chaves, and pilot Alexandre Souza—were in one helicopter, while the second contained only its pilot, Charles Marsillac. Gaspar Prim, also known as Gaspi, was a content creator with 2.8 million followers on YouTube. He was only 23 years old.
Rio de Janeiro’s Military Fire Department said one of the helicopters crashed on the parking lot of a car dealership where several electric vehicles were parked. The crash then ignited a fire that was quickly extinguished. An investigation is now underway to determine the cause of the collision.
Tree was only 17 when he first entered the public eye, working with major electronic artists like Skrillex and Zeds Dead. He released an independent album in 2013, but then stepped away from the industry to study music technology. In 2020, he released his first studio album, Ugly Is Beautiful, featuring the platinum hit “Life Goes On.”
He released several more albums in the years that followed: Cowboy Tears, Alone in a Crowd, and Love You Madly, the latter of which was released in April 2026. In support of the album, Tree had a series of tour dates on the horizon, including a show in Lisbon, Portugal, on July 1, as well as stops across the United States, Europe, Australia, and China. He also performed in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on June 4.
