It’s been a year since BLACKPINK member JENNIE released her debut full-length solo studio album, Ruby. The LP, which peaked at No. 7 on the Billboard 200 album chart last March during its initial release, got a refresh on Friday (March 6) with Ruby (The Complete Edition).
The original 15-track album has been bumped up to 21 songs, including two “like JENNIE” remixes and four JENNIE Only Audio tracks that were originally only available on the physical versions of the album. The collection now kicks off a high-energy extended remix of the banging hip-hop/techno track “like JENNIE,” slathered in hard beats, followed by an equally dance-floor-ready EDM mix that amps up the already hyped original’s energy even further.
The JENNIE Only Audio tracks include the dreamy pop ballad “Handlebars,” R&B burner “ExtraL,” a silky soul cover of Diana Ross’ “Love Hangover” and the molasses-thick slow jam “Damn Right.” The original versions of those songs featured guest spots from collaborators Dua Lipa (“Handlebars”), Doechii (“ExtraL”), Dominic Fike (“Love Hangover”) and Childish Gambino and Kali Uchis (“Damn Right”).
Three out of those four songs made an impact on the Billboard Hot 100 charts upon initial release, with “ExtraL” topping out at No. 75 on the tally, followed by “Handlebars” at No. 80 and “Love Hangover” at No. 96; “like JENNIE” hit No. 83. Last month, the singer/rapper hopped on a remix of Tame Impala’s “Dracula,” on which she layered her vocals over the verses and chorus and hopped in for a new verse on the song from Kevin parker’s long-awaited fifth album, Deadbeat.
JENNIE will be on the road this summer making a series of appearances at festivals around the world, including Governors Ball in New York (June 7) and Mad Cool in Madrid, Spain (July 8-11) and Summer Sonic in Japan (Aug. 14-16).
