One of the country’s most revered singers and storytellers, Dan Sultan, has announced the release of a new live album, Live at Tubowgule (Sydney Opera House).
To launch the album, Sultan has unveiled Kimberley Calling (Live at Tubowgule), the first taste of a remarkable show held at one of the world’s most iconic settings. The album will be available digitally, on streaming services, and on limited-edition coloured vinyl on Friday, 20 March, via Mushroom Music.

“It is with enormous respect, gratitude, and joy that I am able to give thanks and to acknowledge the Elders past, present, and emerging of the traditional owners of beautiful Gadigal Country for hosting thousands upon thousands of my fans, fellow band members, crew, management team, record label team, and my family and me at my Tubowgule (Sydney Opera House Forecourt) show,” Sultan commented in a statement.
He continued, “It was an incredible experience on incredible Country and was by far the most special live event I’ve ever been a part of.”
Sultan and his band, plus special guest Jem Cassar-Daley, took over the Sydney Opera House Forecourt last March. The free concert marked Sultan’s exclusive stop in Sydney on his national tour. With the live album, the musical celebration, power, soul, and spirit of Sultan and his band were captured for all to witness.
Upon announcing Sultan’s Sydney Opera House Forecourt show in February 2025, the venue’s Head of First Nations Programming, Michael Hutchings, said, “Dan Sultan is an absolute legend of Australian music, paving the way for a generation of artists. This gig continues the legacy of Tubowgule, also known as Bennelong Point, where the Opera House now stands.

“People have gathered in this place for tens of thousands of years to share stories, and Dan is a modern storyteller of epic proportions. It’s a true delight to have him performing on the Forecourt in a free event where people from all walks of life can witness the magic of one of Australia’s finest live acts.”
Dan Sultan is a multi-ARIA Award winner, taking home trophies for 2009’s Get Out While You Can, 2014’s Blackbird, 2019’s Nali & Friends, and his most recent release, his self-titled album, which arrived in 2023. His self-titled effort didn’t just win an ARIA; it also earned Sultan an AIR Award and a NIMA.
In addition to touring consistently across Australia, Sultan has experienced other highlights, such as opening for Vance Joy at Red Rocks and The Ryman in the US, celebrating the 50th anniversary of Mushroom Records at Rod Laver Arena, opening for Bruce Springsteen, Lucinda Williams, and being the sole guest performer at the final-ever Midnight Oil concert in 2022.
In 2024, Sultan commemorated the tenth anniversary of Blackbird by performing career-defining shows alongside Symphony Orchestras in Melbourne and Adelaide.
