Don Henley Says 2026 Will ‘Probably’ Mark The Final Year Of The Eagles

They’ve broken up and gotten back together – when ice froze over – and now, singer and drummer Don Henley has said that 2026 will “probably” be the final year of the Eagles.

Henley discussed the band’s future in a new interview with CBS‘s Sunday Morning. During the chat, he reflected on the beloved musical group being “some of the last of our generation to still be playing live.”

Looking to the future, though, Henley remarked that he thinks this year “will probably be it” for the Eagles. “And I’ve said things like that before, but I feel like we’re getting toward the end and that will be fine, too.”

On a personal level, he said he’s “okay” with 2026 potentially being the end of the band.

Also in the interview, Henley elaborated on what life outside of the Eagles entails, such as spending time with his expanding family and “growing vegetables,” and seeing more than the airports, hotel rooms, and stages in countries and cities the Eagles have visited throughout their career, “before it all gets vaporised.”

Henley added that he doesn’t want to have “a one-dimensional life.” Not only does he have four children and a grandchild, but he’s also the Chair of two non-profit environmental organisations that he feels are “really important for conservation and preservation.” As such, “there’s just lots of other things to do” for the musician.

In 2024, the Eagles embarked on their The Long Farewell tour across the US. Throughout February and March of this year, the group have secured an eight-night residency at the Sphere in Las Vegas.

“The Eagles have had a miraculous 52-year odyssey, performing for people all over the globe, keeping the music alive in the face of tragic losses, upheavals and setbacks of many kinds,” the band wrote on their website upon announcing the Long Farewell run.

They continued, “We know how fortunate we are, and we are truly grateful. Our long run has lasted far longer than any of us ever dreamed. But, everything has its time, and the time has come for us to close the circle.”

The Eagles last toured in Australia in March 2019, a few years after the band announced another split following the tragic passing of Glenn Frey.
