Frogfest is a mini all-day festival inspired by European festivals such as Grauzone and Wave-Gotik-Treffen, which takes place on Saturday 15th August 2026 at District Liverpool and Lost Art in the Baltic Triangle area of Liverpool.
Tickets are a very reasonable £35 + booking fee via See Tickets/Fatsoma. Payable in 4 Monthly Instalments of £10 inc via Skiddle (I’m setting that up in the next few days).
Full lineup details, Frogfest TV and more at I’ve attached images to this email.
It was founded by Michael Coates (Moonfrog) and now co-run with John King (Sound Night Out) with the aim of bringing the brightest and best underground goth, darkwave, EBM, Coldwave and Post-Punk new bands from across Europe and the UK
Though it has been growing steadily over the last 7 years, now expanding to two stages, it is still only 350 capacity, which we believe is one of the secrets of its unmistakable vibe.
Last year we had attendees from all over the UK and even some from Europe.
This year’s lineup brings together artists from Germany, Spain, Holland, Scotland, France/Ireland and across England:
- Mouth Ulcers (London) — Atmospheric guitars, tribal percussion and cavernous baritone vocals channel the darkness of The Cure and Bauhaus through something urgent and fresh. Recently played well-received sets at Grauzone and LTW Live.
- Mercy Girl (Glasgow) — Best Newcomer at the Scottish Alternative Music Awards, championed by BBC 6 Music
- Pol (Alphen aan den Rijn, Holland) — Dutch duo who’ve nailed the New Romantic / New Wave sound of Visage and Japan – they recently toured with Lebanon Hanover and this is currently their only UK date this summer.
- Cosey Mueller (Berlin) — Three solo albums deep, DIY punk energy meets driving synth loops.
- SDH (Barcelona) — Barcelona duo SDH make what they call “music to cry to in late night clubs” — synth-pop laced with EBM, techno and darkwave that’s mysterious, danceable and impossible to pin down.
- bloody/bath (Northampton) — Debut album produced by Matt Peel (Eagulls, Yard Act), airplay from three BBC 6 Music DJs.
- Those Holy (Liverpool) — Cold Celtic electronics from the QUARRY co-founder and Dubs Club.
- Liminal Project (France/Ireland via Liverpool) — Darkwave trio – debut album out on Inåt Bakåt Records, recently toured Sweden.
- Die Verletzt (London) — EBM/coldwave duo turning heads with recent single ‘Kreuzberg’.
- Static Palm (London) — Moody new wave, previously shared stages with Kælan Mikla and Qual.
- Veve (Liverpool) — Dreamy, danceable indie-pop inspired by Grimes and Björk.
- Tender Claws (Liverpool) — Dark alt-rock, picked up by BBC Introducing.
- Factory Set (North Wales/Liverpool) — Driving post-punk with ferocious live shows.
- Jezebel (Liverpool) — Experimental noise and electronics, also of industrial outfit Lonesaw.
Frogfest is presented by Sound Night Out Liverpool and Moonfrog.
A Plea From Louder Than War
Louder Than War is run by a small but dedicated independent team, and we rely on the small amount of money we generate to keep the site running smoothly. Any money we do get is not lining the pockets of oligarchs or mad-cap billionaires dictating what our journalists are allowed to think and write, or hungry shareholders. We know times are tough, and we want to continue bringing you news on the most interesting releases, the latest gigs and anything else that tickles our fancy. We are not driven by profit, just pure enthusiasm for a scene that each and every one of us is passionate about.
To us, music and culture are eveything, without them, our very souls shrivel and die. We do not charge artists for the exposure we give them and to many, what we do is absolutely vital. Subscribing to one of our paid tiers takes just a minute, and each sign-up makes a huge impact, helping to keep the flame of independent music burning! Please click the button below to help.
