Hilary Duff and Mandy Moore spent a night out dancing in the dark of Bruce Springsteen’s concert recently, with the two women — whose longtime friendship was put under the microscope amid the “toxic” mom group drama earlier this year — posting about their double “date night” on Instagram on Thursday (April 9).
The This Is Us actress shared a video on Instagram Stories of herself and Duff, along with their husbands — Taylor Goldsmith and Matthew Koma, respectively — dancing along in the stands as The Boss sings his 1975 smash “Born to Run.” Panning the camera over to her seat neighbor, Moore shows the Lizzie McGuire alum flashing a big smile and leaning her head sweetly against Koma’s arm.
“Mentally I’m still here,” Moore captioned the clip, which Duff reposted on her Story. “@springsteen date night!!!”
Springsteen played two shows at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, Calif., on April 7 and 9. The legendary rocker is currently on his Land of Hope & Dreams Tour, which kicked off on the last day in March with a politically charged show in Minneapolis, at which Springsteen slammed ICE and Donald Trump, leading to the president lambasting the musician on Truth Social.
Moore and Duff have been besties for years — something that was thrust into the spotlight in January after Ashley Tisdale wrote an essay titled “Breaking Up With My Toxic Mom Group” detailing her experiences with a group of mom friends. Internet sleuths quickly put together that the friend group in question included both Moore and the How I Met Your Father star, who confirmed that this was the case when she said on a February episode of Call Her Daddy, “I don’t really think people had to connect very many dots, do you?”
“It sucks to read something that’s not true, and it sucks on behalf of, like, six women and all of their lives,” Duff continued at the time. “The timing felt not great, and I felt used.”
Tisdale is also good friends with Duff’s estranged sister, Haylie, who in January shared a photo of herself and the High School Musical star having a playdate for their kids. “Absolutely the most lonely part of my existence is not having my sister in my life at the moment,” Hilary said later in interview with CBS Mornings, confirming that the song “We Don’t Talk” on her recent Billboard 200 No. 3 album Luck … or Something is about Haylie.
