Kendal Calling main stage

Kendal Calling returns to Lowther Deer Park on the fringe of The Lake District from 30th July to 2nd August, celebrating its 21st anniversary. Boasting stunning headliners and a supporting cast of past and present indie favourites, there’s no surprise that the event is already close to selling out.

For those arriving early, The Kooks headline on Thursday night. Support comes from The Cribs, American Vanessa Carlton, and 1980’s legend Lloyd Cole.

Friday to Sunday headliners are Two Door Cinema Club, playing their Tourist History album and more, along with Biffy Clyro, and Wolf Alice. There’s also high profile support from The Libertines, Scissor Sisters and The Vaccines.

As usual there are plenty of Northern indie favourites to entertain, with Doves, Jamie Webster, and The Lathums leading the way. In a similar vein The Snuts and Dylan John Thomas bring a Scottish twist to the genre. Rising stars Keo and Freddie Halkon make appearances too.

Those looking for darker, hard edged sounds are sure to be drawn to bands like Witch Fever, Gans, and Creeping Jean. In contrast, Gabrielle brings her soulful voice and big ballads, while Rianne Downey is sure to enthral with her mellow country-tinged indie.

Of course, there’s much more than mainstream music on offer. The Soapbox Stage mixes comedy and bingo. Lost Eden brings arts and workshops by day, transforming into a magical woodland as darkness falls. And Tim Peaks Diner is a world of its own. From Tim Burgess’ coffee and Yorkshire tea to all manner of guests arriving to play secret sets, it’s a world of surprises.

Kendal Calling line up 2026

A Plea From Louder Than War

Louder Than War is run by a small but dedicated independent team, and we rely on the small amount of money we generate to keep the site running smoothly. Any money we do get is not lining the pockets of oligarchs or mad-cap billionaires dictating what our journalists are allowed to think and write, or hungry shareholders. We know times are tough, and we want to continue bringing you news on the most interesting releases, the latest gigs and anything else that tickles our fancy. We are not driven by profit, just pure enthusiasm for a scene that each and every one of us is passionate about.

To us, music and culture are eveything, without them, our very souls shrivel and die. We do not charge artists for the exposure we give them and to many, what we do is absolutely vital. Subscribing to one of our paid tiers takes just a minute, and each sign-up makes a huge impact, helping to keep the flame of independent music burning! Please click the button below to help.
