Singer songwriter Peter Kosanovich plunders heartfelt emotional depths with a real sense of honesty and compassion as he closes out 2025 with his new solo album, Beauty Within You. And with its sound very much fashioned on vintage acoustic guitars, this is a collection of self-penned songs which harks back to the heyday of some his primary influences as it fuses folk, country and psychedelia into a unique melting pot of artistic creation.
Singer songwriter Pete Kosanovich was born in Belgrade, Serbia but moved to England at a young age with a base now firmly established in the London area. His passion for music started at a very young age and it was really his move to the UK that ignited his talents as he ventured out as a singer songwriter whilst also establishing himself as a multi-instrumentalist. Listening to folk, blues and rock’n’roll from the 60s inspired his songwriting and his sound which was infused with an eclectic mix of artists such as Son House, early 70s Stones, Bob Dylan and even The Brian Jonestown Massacre as he also took inspiration from modern waves of psychedelic and garage rock.
Over the years Pete has recorded and performed both solo and with his former rock’n’roll band Pale Blue Eyes, already having a number of albums under his belt. Now as 2025 draws to a close, Pete releases his seventh solo album, Beauty Within You which was recorded in London in a stripped back acoustic way using vintage acoustic guitars to create an authentic sound that takes you back to the heyday of folk, country and psychedelic music. Pete has written all of the songs on the album and, as well as singing, has played all of the instruments on the album including the harmonica, acoustic guitar, bass guitar, and piano.
Three O’Clock In The Morning opens the album and immediately takes us into the dark and unforgiving world of a killer who is trying to escape justice for as long as he can. It’s a song co-written with Dave Renegade forged in a classic folk blues style but which has deep seated bass driven images which also give it a gothic vibe. Whilst Mirror Mirror has a somewhat lighter tone through its brightly coloured keyboards, Pete’s vocals still have a stark melancholy feel as the narrative focuses on a deep sense of loneliness. In a similar fashion the beautiful acoustic tones within Fade Away, which was the first single to be released from the album, focus on the memory of a lost loved one and the harsh realities of life whilst also recognising that “all things must fade away one day,”
Inspired by late 60s Sinatra, Dreams You Had Yesterday is enveloped by deep resonant bass tones as it plunders further emotional depths, reaching into the world of hope and ambition with a compelling message to pursue your dreams regardless of the negative forces that may surround your world. In My Life meanwhile finds Pete in a full on introspective mode as he shares his love for his son Nico, declaring “I don’t feel so alone now that I have you in my life” whilst the melody has a glimmer from Cat Stevens’ 60s classic First Cut Is The Deepest. Title track Beauty Within You presents an uplifting celebration of the best of humanity that hopefully somehow lurks within us all.
The folky fusion of acoustic guitar and bass within It’s Worth Noting takes us right back to mid-70s Dylan in his most reflective mode as Pete sings of a lost loved one. This mood darkens further through Never Look Back In Sorrow as Pete seems to encourage us to look forward in our lives and not hark back to what has been gone before or lost. When I See An Outlaw adopts a more countrified folk style, melding the best of Dylan and Johnny Cash as well as including a great bluesy harmonica break. This continues into The Bottom Line in which Pete reflects back on romantic encounters which never did work out.
Light Of The Morning once again focuses on the solace that can be obtained by focusing on the future and not on love that has been lost in the past, with Back In The Game emphasising this approach to life as Pete clearly takes great inspiration from the sound of the early 70s folk blues styling of Neil Young in full on acoustic mode. In the further acoustic renderings of Stay Out Of The Wind, Pete seems to draw very much on the legacy left behind by the maestro of melancholy himself, the late Dave Kusworth, as he promises to “forget about the love that has gone and keep on moving on”, reflecting a more positive approach to a failed relationship.
Sunrise By The Sea is a deeply introspective and beautifully framed ballad in which Pete wears his heart on his sleeve as he pays due respect to his Mum who passed away in 2014. Final track on the album Children Of War, which is framed as a bonus track, is a deeply impassioned anti-war song which is driven along with just an acoustic guitar and a rhythm empowered purely by a tambourine to deliver a simple yet very effective message, asking questions such as “can you ignore the bombs here dropping, on the children of peace.”

Little doubt that Beauty Within You is an album created by Pete Kosanovich as a labour of love and performed with all the heart and soul of an artist who is not afraid to plunder emotional depths, something which no doubt may prove to be a cathartic experience on a very personal level. With vocal, acoustic guitar and harmonica arrangements at its very core, this is a collection of songs which presents an introspective journey with a heartfelt and melancholy vibe which draws unashamedly on all of Pete’s primary influences from the world of music, infused with a real sense of honesty and compassion. It’s an album which is both transfixing and empowering in equal measures and one which should stand the test of time within Pete’s career.
