Amazon Music is once again flexing its exclusive music muscles – this time with a new release from RZA, who’s contributed an original track called “Like a Drum” to Amazon MGM Studios’ upcoming action comedy The Wrecking Crew.
The Amazon-owned music platform just recently made “Like a Drum” available exclusively to its users. Written and produced by RZA as well as his son Rakeem, the song is said to factor prominently into The Wrecking Crew.
And that 122-minute film, for its part, is set to hit Prime Video this coming Wednesday, January 28th. Directed by Ángel Manuel Soto, the movie tells the story of estranged half-brothers (Jason Momoa and Dave Bautista) who, upon traveling to Hawaii following their father’s death, promptly uncover “buried secrets and a far-reaching conspiracy that tests their loyalty.”
As described by Amazon Music, RZA and Soto coordinated “to shape the song in direct conversation with the film,” and the nearly three-minute track accompanies “a pivotal action sequence” in The Wrecking Crew.
“With ‘Like A Drum,’” RZA said, “I wanted something that wasn’t just heard, but felt—something that moves with the energy of the sequence and speaks to the emotional heart of The Wrecking Crew. Working alongside my son, we focused on creating a song that reflects the film’s energy and soul, while allowing the music to stand on its own as a character in the story.”
For Amazon Music, “Like a Drum” marks the latest in a line of exclusive tracks, performances, merch, and content – and serves as a clear-cut reminder of its unique ability to capitalize on music tied to high-profile media and campaigns.
Last year, for instance, the DSP exclusively added the Shaboozey original “Let ‘Em Know,” itself meant to promote Thursday Night Football, which Prime Video will host through at least the 2033 season.
Interestingly, while this and other exclusives (meaning works unavailable via on-demand competitors such as Spotify and Apple Music) technically arrived on YouTube as well, “Like a Drum” appears to be streaming solely on Amazon Music.
The same straight-exclusivity approach seems to be in place for the seven Amazon Music Originals that the appropriate service put out earlier in January for a portion of its 2026 Artists to Watch.
Separately, eight days back, A$AP Rocky promoted his latest album with a headline spot on Amazon Music’s Songline performance series.
Throw some exclusive full-festival livestreams (including for Stagecoach) into the mix, not to mention noticeably lower stateside pricing than Spotify, and you’re left with an increasingly compelling subscription offering that might drive market-share changes throughout 2026.
