According to several US news outlets, Rihanna was home at the time of the incident, following which no injuries were reported.
Per Rolling Stone, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles police said officers responded to reports of gunfire at around 1.20 pm on Sunday (March 8), and later took a 30-year-old female suspect into custody.
According to the police, the suspect fired multiple rounds of gunshots toward the couple’s home from inside her car, with at least one bullet penetrating the side of the house. The L.A. Times further reported that a radio dispatch from the incident cited at least “10 shots” fired from a vehicle across the street from the home’s gate.
A motive for the shooting is still unknown. At the time of writing, it is unclear if anyone – including A$AP Rocky or their children – was also home with the pop star at the time of the incident.
It comes after police were called to her LA home in 2021 following reports of an intruder trespassing on her property.
Before that, the ‘Lift Me Up’ artist’s security was compromised once again in 2018, when stalker Eduardo Leon was arrested in the singer’s Hollywood home after attempting to spend the night there and have sex.
Leon pleaded guilty to stalking, vandalism and resisting arrest in connection with the incident.
Elsewhere, the singer made headlines recently after appearing to post proof she is finally working on recording her new album. Widely dubbed ‘R9’, the pop superstar’s next record will be her first since ‘Anti’, which was released in January 2016.
Earlier this month, she also gave an update on the album, saying it was “not going to be anything that anybody expects”.
She also addressed reports in 2018 and 2019 that the album would be highly influenced by reggae. “Way off! There’s no genre now. That’s why I waited,” she revealed. “Every time, I was just like, ‘No, it’s not me. It’s not right. It’s not matching my growth. It’s not matching my evolution. I can’t do this. I can’t stand by this. I can’t perform this for a year on tour.’”
“After a while, I looked at it, and I was like, this much time away from music needs to count for the next thing everyone hears. It has to count. It has to matter. I have to show them the worth in the wait. I cannot put up anything mediocre. After waiting eight years, you might as well just wait some more.”
Rihanna has shared a few bits of information in the last year about ‘R9’, including her saying she was “starting over” with a “new perspective” at a Fenty Hair event in June, as well as enigmatically suggesting that “God had other plans for me” than music at a product launch in November.
Rumours emerged last year that linked Rihanna to a string of huge headline shows at the London Stadium in early July, which also led to speculation of a possible headline appearance at Glastonbury 2025. It was later reported that the shows were cancelled and rescheduled for 2026, but Rihanna has yet to address those rumours. She has not toured at all since the ‘Anti’ World Tour in 2016.
