Louder Than War’s Christopher Lloyd finds an intriguing mix of post punk and harmony driven indie pop from New York’s ‘Skorts’.

NYC is renowned for its myriad of cool bands over the years, along with plenty of hipster trial-by fire, burn outs. Late last year at the Viva Sounds festival in Sweden, Skorts appeared, seemingly from nowhere, to perform a set comprised of their debut album that effortlessly seeped the kind of cool that can only be achieved by producing unique music that feels familiar yet not quite samey, and exciting yet not forced. Looking damn cool helps too, which they absolutely did. Skorts pulled all this off effortlessly at that intense, yet short gig.

A four piece that play a dreamy mix of shoegaze meets Elastica with a stateside twist, Skorts is a band that deserves to be heard, and this summer, Skorts are heading to the UK for a tour backed on the release of new track ‘Headrush’, hopefully a taster of a new album to come, and you can catch them at the following venues:

June 30th – Shacklewell Arms, London

July 1st – Future Yard CIC, Birkenhead

July 2nd – Billy Bootleggers, Nottingham

July 3rd – Big Hands, Manchester

July 4th – The Brunswick, Brighton

You can pick up tickets here, and find out more about Skorts on their official website, Instagram and Bandcamp pages.

A Plea From Louder Than War

Louder Than War is run by a small but dedicated independent team, and we rely on the small amount of money we generate to keep the site running smoothly. Any money we do get is not lining the pockets of oligarchs or mad-cap billionaires dictating what our journalists are allowed to think and write, or hungry shareholders. We know times are tough, and we want to continue bringing you news on the most interesting releases, the latest gigs and anything else that tickles our fancy. We are not driven by profit, just pure enthusiasm for a scene that each and every one of us is passionate about.

To us, music and culture are eveything, without them, our very souls shrivel and die. We do not charge artists for the exposure we give them and to many, what we do is absolutely vital. Subscribing to one of our paid tiers takes just a minute, and each sign-up makes a huge impact, helping to keep the flame of independent music burning! Please click the button below to help.
