Out Now
Berlin-based British indie singer-songwriter Freddie Dickson returns with Exit Game, the first taste of a forthcoming new album due later this year, his first since 2019.
It’s been a while, 5 years in fact since we reviewed Freddie’s last EP, Idiot’s Dream here at LTW and chatted with him. Exit Game is a welcome return from the singer-songwriter, known for his elegant, dark indie-pop style. Initially emerging from the London scene in the early “twenty-tens”, his song Shut Us Down caught the attention of Lily Allen, leading to a deal with Columbia Records and the release of two EPs. After two and a half years, Freddie left the label to pursue his path as an independent artist, and in 2018 relocated to Berlin.
This saw the artist touring extensively around the country and building a growing reputation as a songwriter for other artists. He has written songs for the likes of German act Tokio Hotel, American musician, DJ, music producer, and songwriter Illenium and Austrian DJ and electronic music producer Ely Oaks at the same time as working on his own material.
The first release of Dickson’s new material he says is ‘inspired by the challenges of navigating the modern music industry, the song being a reflection on resilience and the value of the people who help keep you going’. Exit Game was recorded in Berlin with some of Freddie’s favourite local musicians and produced and mixed by the two times Latin Grammy Award winner Ainsley Adams.
If this is anything to go by, the forthcoming album should be a treat

A Plea From Louder Than War
Louder Than War is run by a small but dedicated independent team, and we rely on the small amount of money we generate to keep the site running smoothly. Any money we do get is not lining the pockets of oligarchs or mad-cap billionaires dictating what our journalists are allowed to think and write, or hungry shareholders. We know times are tough, and we want to continue bringing you news on the most interesting releases, the latest gigs and anything else that tickles our fancy. We are not driven by profit, just pure enthusiasm for a scene that each and every one of us is passionate about.
To us, music and culture are eveything, without them, our very souls shrivel and die. We do not charge artists for the exposure we give them and to many, what we do is absolutely vital. Subscribing to one of our paid tiers takes just a minute, and each sign-up makes a huge impact, helping to keep the flame of independent music burning! Please click the button below to help.
