Amaia has delivered an unforgettable NPR Tiny Desk Concert – breaking out a flute that looks like a folding chair.
The Spanish singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist made her debut on the hit video series last week, and broke out mesmerising renditions of six of her songs.
To kick off the appearance, she played ‘C’est La Vie’ and ‘Nanai’ – both tracks taken from her 2025 third album ‘Si Abro Los Ojos No Es Real’. During these, she integrated flute solos, which she played on an unconventional design that resembled a full-scale plastic folding chair.
The rest of the set, however, saw her seated behind the piano to deliver stirring renditions of ‘Zorongo’, ‘Auxiliar’, ‘Giratutto’, and ‘Yamaguchi’. Check out the full performance below.
Later this year Amaia will be playing some headline shows in her native Spain, which includes slots in Bilbao and Valencia in May, as well as multiple festival appearances lined up for later in 2026. Visit here for tickets.
She is far from the first singer to turn heads for an unforgettable stop at the Tiny Desk Concert series. Last September, Turnstile made an appearance on the NPR show and delivered the first stage dive on the show.
It came as they broke out five songs from their latest album ‘Never Enough’, and frontman Brendan Yates jumped on the desk and dived into the dancing crowd around 15-minutes into the show.
The series has gathered huge momentum over the years, and sees artists come together in an intimate live setting to perform a few of their tracks in a new-stripped back way. It is held at the NPR Music offices in Washington, D.C., behind an unassuming office desk and surrounded by vinyl and books.
Huge names have been involved in the series over the years including Adele, Tyler, The Creator, Weezer, Turnstile, Taylor Swift, Anderson Paak., Pulp and more.
