Gracie Abrams doesn’t mince words about her love for BLACKPINK‘s JENNIE in an essay praising the K-pop superstar for TIME magazine’s 100 Most Influential People of 2026 list. “To cut to the chase: JENNIE is a star,” Abrams writes.
“I could go on and on about her accomplishments or her influence in pop culture,” she continues. “But sitting down to write, the thing that comes to mind is that the magic at her core—the power that draws you into ‘Jennie the Artist’ when you’re watching her onscreen or as one of 100,000 people in a stadium— is identical to the power she carries when you find her in the corner of a party or run into her in a backstage hallway.”
The South Korean rapper, singer and actress has scored a series of hits with the mega girl group, as well as charting her own solo songs on the Billboard Hot 100 over the past three years, including on last year’s remix of Tame Impala’s “Dracula” (No. 17), “One of the Girls” (with the Weeknd and Lily-Rose Depp) (No. 51) and her 2025 Doechii collab “ExtraL” (No. 51). In addition, she made her acting debut in the Weeknd’s 2023 HBO series The Idol and released her debut solo album, Ruby, in March of last year.
Abrams wrote that what really makes JENNIE a star is that even in her quietest moments, “She possesses the same kind of undeniable presence that cuts through all the noise, and she carries that with kindness and warmth. She is the type of person who will grab both your hands and squeeze them. She has a softness that only emphasizes her strength. I just love her.”
JENNIE made the magazine’s list of most influential people this year alongside Luke Combs, Keke Palmer, Dakota Johnson, Noah Kahan, Anderson.Paak, Hilary Duff, Rauw Alejandro and Victoria Beckham. Click here to see the full list.
