After premiering an exclusive look for festival attendees in Orlando earlier in May, Rolling Loud and Live Nation released the first trailer for the comedy Rolling Loud on Tuesday (May 19).
Set to hit U.S. theaters on Oct. 2, the Jeremy Garelick-directed flick stars Owen Wilson, who brings his teenage son (played by Christian Convery) to Rolling Loud and gets thrown into a chaotic adventure after losing his son in the mosh pits of RL.
Shot throughout Rolling Loud Miami 2024 and based on a true story, Wilson panics about losing his son in the sea of 60,000 sweaty teens and millennials outside Hard Rock Stadium.
Amid the madness, Wilson finds himself backstage and rubbing elbows with Matt Rife, Sexyy Red, Ski Mask the Slump God, Ty Dolla $ign and Travis Scott ahead of his headlining performance.
“The lengths you go to find your kid’s like some superhero, super father s–t,” said Scott — who boasts more than 130 songs on the Billboard Hot 100 and multiple Billboard 200 No. 1s — while puffing on a joint. The Wedding Crashers actor responds to the praise: “I appreciate you saying that, Travis Scott.”
Wilson joined Zane Lowe for an interview with Apple Music in 2025, during which he recalled becoming unlikely costars with Travis Scott, and the experience of La Flame bringing him out during his RL performance for his raging hit “FE!N.”
“My two boys were there, and I think it helped having them there because I knew I couldn’t back out of it,” he said. “It was scary going up there, and I was talking to Travis’ kind of hype man before I went on, and I just wanted to make sure that I wasn’t expected to dance because I’m not a dancer.”
Wilson continued: “He gave me a shot and then it seemed like right in the next second, I turned and there’s Travis Scott walking back towards me. And then I was out there and it was an out-of-body experience and I found myself just, you know, yeah, the adrenaline.”
Owen Wilson and La Flame actually bonded over a mutual friend, decorated filmmaker Wes Anderson. “It was nice when I met him because then we did a scene and he’s from Houston and he said that he loves Wes Anderson,” the actor shared. “I spoke with Wes and Wes said, ‘Yeah, Travis Scott sent me some of those shoes that he has.’ It would be funny to see Wes wearing those.”
