UPDATED: Mastodon Premiere New Single “Your Ghost Again” – Announce ‘The Poisonous Weapons Tour’ With Deafheaven & Alcest

GRAMMY-winning sludge metal band Mastodon have released a brand new single titled “Your Ghost Again,” marking the first new music from the group following the departure of longtime guitarist/vocalist Brent Hinds. The split between Hinds and the band occurred in early 2025, making the arrival of the new track a significant turning point in the band’s history.
“Your Ghost Again” is expected to serve as the lead single from Mastodon’s forthcoming ninth studio album, which the band has reportedly already completed. Production duties on the song were shared between the band, producer Patrik Berger, and Kurt Ballou of Converge.
The track also features writing and performance contributions from Mastodon’s newer members, guitarist Nick Johnston and keyboardist João Nogueira.

UPDATE: Mastodon have followed yesterday’s reveal of their new single “Your Ghost Again” with the announcement of dates for their ‘The Poisonous Weapons Tour‘. The North American headlining run is set to kick off in mid-September, with blackgazers Deafheaven appearing as direct support and post-black metal act Alcest opening each night. The band have dubbed the tour ‘The Poisonous Weapons Tour‘.
