The festival is being held this weekend at the Herrington Country Park in Sunderland, and on Saturday (May 23), Goulding played on the Main Stage.

During her set, which was comprised of classic hits from throughout her career, she debuted her new track ‘Black Prada Dress’– which she first began teasing back in January – and gave a heartfelt shoutout to her son, Arthur, who was watching her perform for the first time.

Elsewhere, she played a cover of Bieber’s ‘SWAG‘ track, ‘Daisies’, reimagining it as an indie-pop anthem. Watch below.

Goulding has not released a studio album since her fifth LP ‘Higher Than Heaven’ in 2023, although she did release the singles ‘Save My Love’ with Marshmello and ‘Destiny’ last year.

Goulding spoke to NME last year about her upcoming music. “Back before I signed a record deal, I was just writing songs, letting them come out naturally and not thinking too much,” she said. “To be honest though, I still really have nothing to lose because I’m always doing projects that indulge me, like classical music, electronic, and dance, plus I still get to write pop songs that are really appealing to me.”

“This is probably the most honest I’ve been in my lyrics. I don’t have anyone to answer to. In certain situations, you’re trying to please someone, but for the first time ever, I don’t feel like I have to do that. I’m just making music that I love.”

NME gave ‘Higher Than Heaven’ four stars back in 2023, noting that it “may not be strictly personal, but it definitely sounds like an album crafted with care, skill and no small amount of flair”.

Goulding celebrated being honoured with an MBE at the start of the year by sharing praise for the women working on climate protection, and she is also scheduled to appear on the current season of Later…with Jools Holland.

Other names on the bill at Radio 1’s Big Weekend this year include Olivia Dean, Lola Young, Fatboy Slim, Louis Tomlinson, Zara Larsson, Niall Horan and CMAT.
